The Midland Community College basketball program is considered among the finest at any junior college in the United States. Midland College took home the National Championship of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in 1982 and 2007. Noted alumni of the Midland Community College basketball team include American basketball players Milt Palacio and Spud Webb, who was the champion of the 1986 NBA Slam Dunk Contest.
